Life in a world of photos
That’s the title of my latest completed project: A photographer’s website.

The photo gallery itself was realised with the picture gallery framework Pixlie (German) and John Einselen’s Mediabox.
Pixlie: The very small and easy to integrate PHP script (open source) produces high-quality thumbnail images from the original photos. The new rendering engine and the integrated cache system yields an extraordinary speed. Additionally, Pixlie can read metadata in the IPTC and Exif formats making it possible to automatically display picture captions or information on the camera.
Mediabox: Using the MooTools 1.11 javascript library, Mediabox lets you open flash, video, and html content in a floating “lightbox” style window. The look of the floating window can be adapted to personal needs and tastes by simply changing the CSS code.
Additional requirements:
Only the sizes and formats which can be ordered of the individual photos (landscape, portrait or square) are displayed in the floating window – automatically.
Once the “add to cart” button is hit, the visitor is fowarded to a PayPal shopping cart (new window) ensuring quick and safe payment.
And the best of all – this website is very easy to update: New photos only need to be uploaded to the server and are automatically sorted and displayed without maintaining any databases or the like.

Das war der Titel meines letzten Projektes: die Internetpräsenz einer Fotografin.
Die Aufgabe: Konzeption, Design und Programmierung einer Internetseite inkl. Bildergalerie und einer Shopping Cart Lösung.

Die Fotos werden jetzt nach und nach von der Fotografin selbst hochgeladen.
Die Galerie wurde mit dem schlanken Bildergalerie-Framework Pixlie and der Mediabox (Englisch) von John Einselen umgesetzt.
Pixlie: Das sehr kleine und leicht zu integrierende PHP-Skript (Open Source) schneidet Vorschaubilder in brillianter Bildqualität an der optimalen Position aus dem Originalbild. Die außerordentliche Geschwindigkeit kommt nicht nur durch die neue Bildrendering-Engine, sondern auch durch das integrierte Cachesystem zustande. Pixlie kann außerdem Metadaten im Format IPTC und Exif lesen – so können Bildbeschreibungen und Informationen zu der Kamera automatisch ausgeben werden.
Mediabox: Mithilfe der MooTools 1.11 Javascript Bibliothek kann die Mediabox Flash-, Video- und HTML-Inhalte in einem “schwebenden” Fenster im Lightbox-Stil öffnen. Das Aussehen des Fensters kann den eigenen Bedürfnissen und dem individuellen Geschmack ganz einfach durch die Änderung des CSS-Codes angepasst werden.
Weitere Anforderungen an diese Seite:
In dem schwebenden Fenster werden dem Besucher nur die Größen und Ausführungen angezeigt, die von den einzelnen Bildern bestellt werden können – ganz automatisch.
Beim Drücken des “add to cart” Buttons wird der Besucher zu einem PayPal Shopping Cart (neues Fenster) weitergeleitet, wo er sehr einfach und sicher die Bezahlung vornehmen kann.
Das Beste: Die Seite kann sehr leicht aktualisiert werden – die Bilder werden einfach hochgeladen und dann automatisch sortiert und angezeigt; es werden keine Datenbanken o.ä. benötigt.
Ich weiß, es ist kaum zu überhören: ich bin begeistert!
